2/1/25- Pursue The God Thing, Not Just Good Things
I Chronicles 22:7-10 NKJV:
“And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the Lord my God; but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight. Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. He shall build a house for My name, and he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’”

In the Bible we read that King David wanted to build God’s temple, but this man of war was not the one to do it. Instead, God wanted the temple built by his son, King Solomon, who was a man of rest.
This scripture reminds me that not only does it matter to God that His plans are carried out, but He also instructs us in who does what (the roles we play). We must desire and pursue the God things, not just many good things. Pursue the role that God called you to, and not the role He has called another to do. If you don’t know your role, seek Him for instruction and work your gifts/talents. God is attracted to activity, so stay busy doing His work but be in tune about what to hold and what to let go— what to continue and what to cut off.

February Prayer-
Dear Lord, I dedicate and consecrate my life to You. I pray for a renewed desire and commitment to follow You above all things. I desire only to do the tasks and assignments You have for me, and not the assignments of another. Your will, and not my intentions, Oh Lord.
